FEES FOR UNINSURED MEDICAL SERVICES

Not all services that your physician provides to you are insured through your provincial health card or your health plan. As a result, a fee may be charged at the time of your visit. Consult the uninsured services fees listed below or contact us at 613-714-9899 for more information.

Uninsured medical services are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) and may be charged directly to the patient (or third party) at the discretion of the physician. Third Party services are defined as any service (including a medical assessment) received by a patient which, in whole or in part, is necessary for the production or completion of a document or transmission of information to satisfy the requirements of a party other than the patient.

How can I pay for my fees?

The Nation Health Centre issues electronic invoices by e-mail for outstanding medical fees. If you receive an electronic invoice by e-mail, you may process your payment online at: https://payment.santenationhealth.ca  or in person at our clinic located at 601 Limoges Road. Accepted methods of online payment are Visa and Mastercard. In person, accepted methods of payment are Visa, Mastercard, Debit, or Cash.

Your electronic invoice will indicate the date of the original invoice as well as a description of the medical fee for which it was issued.

Why am I being charged for a prescription renewal?

The amount of medication your provider prescribes correlates with the time in which they would like you to be reassessed in clinic. You can schedule an appointment with your provider online or by calling the clinic.

If your supply of medication runs out prior to when you are able to book a follow up appointment with your provider, your community pharmacist may be able to renew your prescription. * A fee may apply.

In cases where your pharmacist is not able to renew your prescription, ask your pharmacy to fax the prescription renewal request to your provider at 613-212-2233. It may take up to 2-3 business days for your provider to process the fax request. A prescription renewal without a visit with your provider is an administrative (uninsured) service not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan. Prescription renewal requests received by phone or fax will incur a $20 charge per request.

*Note:

  • Pharmacist-authorized renewals are not intended to replace regular visits with your primary care provider.
  • Narcotic prescription refills require a doctor’s appointment.
Why am I being charged for a referral for Physiotherapy/Massage?

A referral to an Allied Health Professional requested for documentation purposes (i.e. referral requested by your insurance company) is an administrative (uninsured) service not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan.  As such a $20 fee per referral request will apply and must be paid prior to processing the request.  Allied Health Professionals include, but are not limited to: Massage Therapist, Physiotherapist, Chiropractor, Chiropodist/Podiatrist/Orthotics, Osteopath, Naturopath, Acupuncturist, Speech Language Pathologist, Psychologist, Dietician etc.

Please contact the clinic at 613-714-9899 to request a referral from your primary care provider.

*All fees are subject to change without notice*
